Play-Based Therapies

Why
play?

Play is a natural, fun, and engaging way to express ourselves and explore our inner world. Through play, we build trust and share our thoughts and feelings without the need for intrusive questions.

Over time, play evolves and sheds light on themes for which we might not have the words to describe, and at the same time allows us to test ideas and responses in a safe, supported way.

In my office, I use a wide range of figurines, props, and technology to provide both structured and free-flowing sessions guided to engage clients in the therapeutic journey. One day that might be a game we co-create, and on another we might use a VR headset.

Virtual sessions leverage iPad and computer games like Roblox to play, explore, and challenge ourselves.

Am I too
old to play?

No. While many tend to think of play-based therapy as something for children, you might be amazed to discover how cathartic and healing it can be.

Let's Get Started

Free Consultation

Let's start with a free, no-pressure 15-minute phone consultation so that I can learn more about your goals and answer any questions you have.  If we agree that I'm a good fit we'll schedule a longer "intake" session to take a deeper dive.

Intake Session

We'll schedule an in-person or online meeting to explore your experiences, the areas you would like to address, and how we can partner together to help you achieve your therapeutic goals.

90-minutes, $250

Ongoing Sessions

Typically we meet weekly for 50-minutes, though the frequency and duration can vary based on your goals.  Cancel or reschedule anytime with 24-hour notice.

50-minutes: $200

Licensed in Maryland

I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in the state of Maryland.

Do you accept insurance?

I am not currently able to accept insurance, but I am happy to prepare a "super bill" that you can submit for reimbursement if eligible under on the terms of your insurance policy.

For Teletherapy

Sessions work best on a computer or tablet with a high-speed wifi connection, webcam, and a quiet place where you can speak freely.  I use HIPAA-compliant versions of Zoom for videoconferencing and we'll discuss any additional tools we might use.

*Rates are in U.S.D., current as of July, 2024, and subject to change in the future.  Contact me with questions.
